A serious diagnosis or a complex medical condition can change everything.
Appointments multiply. Specialists become involved. Test results arrive from different providers, often using different systems. Often, one family member quietly takes on the role of coordinator, keeping track of appointments, records, and questions while trying to support the person they love.
Modern healthcare is increasingly specialized. As more specialists become involved in a person's care, information comes from different providers and different systems. Coordinating appointments, records, and decisions can become challenging for patients and families, especially during an already stressful time.
This is where having an independent patient advocate can make a meaningful difference.
What does a patient advocate do?
A patient advocate is an independent professional who helps patients and families navigate healthcare with greater clarity, coordination, and confidence.
That may include helping patients and families better understand the information provided by their healthcare team, preparing for specialist appointments, coordinating information across multiple providers, identifying unanswered questions, and supporting informed healthcare decisions.
When care involves several specialists, recommendations may differ, and families are often left trying to connect the pieces. A patient advocate helps bring those pieces together so patients can better understand their options and feel more confident about the decisions ahead.
Patient advocates work alongside the healthcare team, not in place of it. They do not diagnose medical conditions, provide medical or legal advice, or make clinical decisions. Their role is to help patients and families better understand the information they receive, navigate the healthcare system, and make informed decisions with their treating clinicians.
How MYNA supports families
Every family's situation is different. Some come to us after a new diagnosis. Others are managing long term care across multiple providers. Some need support while making an important medical decision.
Our role is always the same: to provide confidential, independent support tailored to the needs of each patient and family.
MYNA is the first patient advocacy service established in the UAE with Board Certified Patient Advocate (BCPA) certified members.
You do not have to navigate healthcare alone
Most families who contact us are not looking for someone to take over their care. They are looking for clarity. They want someone who understands the healthcare system, can help them stay organized, and can give them confidence that nothing important is being overlooked.
If you or someone you love is facing a serious diagnosis or managing complex care, patient advocacy can provide independent support, helping you better understand the information you receive, navigate the healthcare system, and make informed decisions alongside your healthcare team.
